Joseph Nguyen specializes in tax law and business law.
Joseph’s tax law practice focuses on various aspects of corporate and
personal taxation as well as commodity taxes. He also represents
taxpayers in the contexts of tax audits and objections as well as appeals
before the Quebec Court, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, Trial
Division and the Federal Court of Appeal.
In the business law area, Mr. Nguyen has participated in
various transactions dealing with the acquisition and sale of private
companies and operative assets, private financings and corporate
reorganizations. He has also been participating in the negotiation and the
drafting of various business agreements for such projects as licensing,
distribution, outsourcing, technology transfer, clinical trial, research and
joint venture.
Called to the Quebec Bar in 2004, he was awarded a
Bachelor in Civil Law (LL.B.) from the Université de Montréal in 2003. While
in university, he studied European and International public law at the
Université de la Sorbonne (Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris I), in Paris.
He articled and practised as a lawyer with the firm. He
then joined Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP before returning to the firm in
2009.
Joseph is a member of the Young Bar Association, the
Canadian Tax Foundation and of the Association de planification fiscale et
financière (APFF).
