Sébastien Rheault is a partner with Barsalou Lawson. His practice focuses on tax dispute resolution and tax planning for corporations, with a particular emphasis on international taxation and transfer pricing (including inter-company arrangements, contemporaneous documentation, international tax audits, competent authority proceedings (MAP) and litigation). Sebastien also has experience in mergers and acquisition, the application of the general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR), research and development tax credits (SR&ED ITCs), sales taxes and with a number of other corporate tax issues affecting multinational enterprises doing business in Canada. He has represented taxpayers before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court Trial Division, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Québec Court and the Québec Court of Appeal.

Mr. Rheault is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences organized by the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF) and other organizations. He is a member of the Montreal Bar Liaison Committee with the Tax Court of Canada and of the Executive Committee of the Tax Section, Canadian Bar Association, Québec Chapter. He is also a member of the MBA Association and the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF).

He graduated from the University of Ottawa Law Faculty (LL.B, Dean’s List, Cum Laude) in 1992 and obtained an MBA in International Business from the ISG School of Business (Paris, New York, Tokyo) in 1997.
