Sébastien Rheault (LL.L, MBA; admitted in Quebec and Ontario) is a
partner with Barsalou Lawson. His practice focuses on tax dispute resolution
and transfer pricing. He also regularly advises on other tax
matters affecting multinational corporations doing business in Canada,
including, SR&ED tax credits, the application anti-avoidance rules including
the GAAR, mergers and acquisitions as well as international inter-company
arrangements. He represents taxpayers at the competent authority level (MAP,
APA), at administrative appeals (CRA, ARQ) as well as before the Tax Court
of Canada, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and Québec courts.
Sébastien is president of the Tax Section of the Canadian Bar
Association (Quebec Division). He is a frequent speaker at seminars
and conferences organized by the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Association de
planification fiscale et financière (APFF), the Association of Corporate
Counsels (ACC) and other organizations. He graduated from the
University of Ottawa Law Faculty (LL.B, Dean’s List, Cum Laude) in 1992 and
obtained an MBA in International Business from the ISG School of Business
(Paris, New York, Tokyo) in 1997.
